As usual it's been another year full of challenges. The weather is always one of our biggest challenges and this year was no different. Spring included flurries late in April, summer was abnormally dry and our fall was unusually wet. Not to mention a freak snowstorm the City and Hydro are still cleaning up from. Needless to say, we lost some installation time this year!
Another huge challenge was the massive warehouse fire that occurred in the third week of July. Our property is right next door and only the incredible efforts of our Fire Department prevented us from losing the entire building. We were not allowed in to our own building for several days and lost a full week of production, as we suffered water, smoke and fire damage. Luckily, quite a bit of product had been delivered and was waiting at jobsites, so the installers didn’t lose as much time as they could have.
Being my last column of the year I would like to thank some people for their support. First would be our customers (especially any that were delayed from the fire), who entrusted us to work on their most prized possession, their homes, and helped us with referrals and promoting the company. Second, would be suppliers who keep all our guys (and gals) working.
But most of all, I have to thank our staff - the designers who always strive to envision and plan the best possible "dream room" for our clients, our inside staff, who keep the installers supplied, and finally, to the installers themselves, who deal with the elements every day, trying to stay on schedule. It's amazing how much they accomplish in such a short building season. We are fortunate to have such a tight knit group of people that work as a team to provide our clients with a great product, as well as, such personalized service. It was amazing to see how everyone pulled together and dealt with all the challenges the fire presented! We are still dealing with the repercussions and are still not back to normal procedures.
Our weather may be unpredictable, but I won’t complain. If the weather was perfect, who would need our services? Our clients know how valuable these rooms are, but if you would like to find out how to improve your lifestyle or beat the spring rush, give us a call or visit our factory for more information.
